Where it came from
Released in 2008, this self-titled collaboration between French accordionist Ludovic Beier and Croatian guitarist Kruno Spisic captures a distinct fusion of European jazz traditions. The project emerged from the pair's long-standing musical partnership, intended to showcase the interplay between the sophisticated, lyrical style of the Parisian musette school and the high-energy, virtuosic approach to gypsy jazz favored by Spisic.
The album serves as a document of their live chemistry, often performed in intimate club settings where the duo explored a mix of standard jazz repertoire and original compositions. While the release remains a niche entry in the contemporary jazz landscape, it is highly regarded among enthusiasts of accordion-led acoustic music for its technical precision and the seamless, conversational rapport between the two instrumentalists.
