Provenance

Where it came from

Magic, released in 2025 under the Stars label, serves as a contemporary retrospective project from Thomas Anders. The album features the singer revisiting the foundational catalog of Modern Talking, the iconic synth-pop duo he formed with Dieter Bohlen in the 1980s. This collection was developed to bridge the gap between the original Eurodisco sound that dominated European charts four decades ago and modern production sensibilities, allowing Anders to reclaim the legacy of those global hits in a solo capacity.

The aesthetic of the project leans into a polished, nostalgic refinement of the high-energy arrangements that defined the duo's commercial peak. Designed to commemorate the enduring cultural footprint of tracks like You're My Heart, You're My Soul, the album was crafted for longtime fans of the genre. Reception has largely focused on the vocal evolution of Anders, who utilizes his current range to provide a more nuanced take on the familiar, driving beats that became a hallmark of the 1980s German pop landscape.
