Where it came from
Released in 2011 by the label WortArt, this album serves as a musical and spoken-word expansion of Marc-Uwe Kling’s acclaimed Kangaroo Chronicles universe. The project emerged from the German author and cabaret artist's satirical exploration of political and social life in Berlin, utilizing his signature deadpan wit to blend storytelling with melodic compositions.
The production sought to bring the anarchic, humor-filled world of the Kangaroo and its roommates to a new medium, moving beyond the printed page to provide an immersive auditory experience. It was received favorably by fans of Kling's literature, who appreciated how the album captured the character's sardonic perspective through a mix of musical tracks and vignettes that further developed the series' established narrative voice.
