Provenance

Where it came from

Released in 2023 by the German label WortArt, Queer Up Comedy - Präsentiert Von Markus Barth Vol. 1 serves as a recorded compilation of live stand-up performances that highlight diverse voices within the LGBTQ+ comedy scene. Curated and hosted by the well-known German comedian and author Markus Barth, the project was developed to provide a platform for queer storytelling and humor, reflecting a broader movement to increase representation in the German-language cabaret and comedy landscape.

The album design focuses on a clean, contemporary aesthetic that mirrors the tone of modern live comedy specials. By organizing these sets into a compilation format, the production aims to bring the energy of intimate club nights to a wider audience, positioning the work as both a document of current queer culture and a celebration of comedic craft. It has been received as a deliberate effort to curate a supportive space for marginalized performers to showcase their observational styles.
