Marjolaine

Released in early 2025 under the Play Two label, Marjolaine marks a significant addition to the discography of Gaëtan Roussel. Coming out of a prolific career that spans his work with Louise Attaque and his established solo projects, the album reflects Roussel's continued exploration of indie-pop and chanson-inflected songwriting. It serves as a distillation of his recent creative output, capturing a period of transition and introspection that has characterized his studio approach in the post-pandemic era.

The album's design and soundscape were curated to prioritize a balance between modern production techniques and the raw, melodic sensitivity that fans have come to associate with Roussel’s performances. While specific collaborators and visual artists are often kept within the intimate circle of his production team, the release was received as a natural progression of his sound. Critics have noted the project for its cohesive production, which prioritizes clear, emotive vocal delivery over the dense layering often found in contemporary French pop.
