Provenance

Where it came from

Markus + Wädi, released in 1991 under the Koch International label, emerged from the Alpine folk music tradition, often categorized as Ländlermusik. The duo, composed of Markus Flückiger and Wädi Gwerder, represents a significant collaboration within Swiss folk instrumentation, specifically highlighting the traditional Schwyzerörgeli accordion style that defines this regional genre.

The album serves as a preservation of traditional Swiss dance music during an era when folk artists were increasingly integrating with mainstream production houses like Koch International. The design and reception of the work center on the technical proficiency of the performers, with the release being respected among aficionados of folk music for its adherence to authentic tonal qualities and the preservation of Gwerder's unique playing technique.
