Midnight Country Vol 3 Waylon Jennings

Midnight Country Vol 3, featuring Waylon Jennings, was released in 2001 by the British independent label Dressed To Kill. This compilation belongs to a series of budget-oriented releases that gathered country music recordings, often focusing on outlaws and classic figures of the genre. By the early 2000s, Jennings' extensive back catalog was frequently licensed by various labels for these types of anthologies, which served to keep his legacy accessible to casual listeners and collectors during a period when the traditional outlaw country sound was experiencing a resurgence in popularity.

The design and packaging of the Dressed To Kill series were functional and utilitarian, reflecting the budget nature of the product. The artwork typically emphasized the rugged, iconoclastic persona that Jennings cultivated throughout his career. While these releases were not intended as definitive career retrospectives, they were received as convenient entry points for listeners interested in the grit of the Bakersfield and Nashville outlaw scenes. They represent a significant era of music distribution where archival recordings were repackaged for a new generation of listeners via compact disc.
