Musik Aus Urklang (Tonbandkompositionen von Rüdiger Rüfer)

Musik Aus Urklang is a specialized work by the German electronic composer Rüdiger Rüfer, released on the Thorofon label in 1988. The composition belongs to a distinct niche of tape music and experimental electronic soundscapes that emerged from the German avant-garde scene during the late 1980s. Thorofon, a label often associated with academic and experimental output, provided a platform for Rüfer to explore textural, non-traditional acoustic structures intended to evoke primal or elemental sonic environments.

The album serves as a document of Rüfer’s focus on the manipulation of magnetic tape as an instrument, a practice rooted in the mid-century musique concrète tradition. Designed to challenge standard melodic expectations, the work represents the composer's desire to push the boundaries of spatial audio and frequency modulation. While the release remained an obscure entry in the broader experimental catalog, it is recognized by collectors of the late 20th-century German underground for its uncompromising commitment to its chosen aesthetic.
