Pour La Fin Du Monde

Pour La Fin Du Monde serves as the debut studio project from the French musical duo Philippine & Théo, released through the label Smart in 2018. The album emerged during a period of experimentation within the French indie-pop scene, reflecting a shift toward intimate, stripped-back arrangements that emphasize lyrical vulnerability and minimalist production aesthetics. It was crafted to capture the essence of fleeting moments and existential reflection, functioning as a stylistic departure from more heavily produced contemporary electronic music.

The record’s identity is defined by a cohesive, melancholic visual and sonic palette that the duo curated to mirror the album’s title. By prioritizing atmospheric textures and direct, conversational vocal delivery, Philippine & Théo aimed to establish a distinct artistic voice within the Smart label’s catalog. While the release primarily found its footing among fans of European contemporary singer-songwriter music, it remains a notable example of the duo’s early collaborative synergy and their focused approach to modern French songwriting.
