Where it came from
Released in 2019 through the label Smart, the vinyl edition by the duo Philippine & Théo represents a specific moment in the contemporary French pop landscape. This project emerged from a collaborative musical partnership, focusing on a polished, acoustic-leaning aesthetic that highlights vocal interplay and minimalist instrumentation, reflecting a broader trend of intimate, bedroom-pop-influenced production within the European indie scene.
The design of the record was crafted to mirror the understated nature of the duo's sound, prioritizing a clean, visual simplicity that complements the organic quality of their compositions. Upon its release, the project was noted by followers of the independent French music circuit for its gentle, cohesive atmosphere and was regarded as a sincere addition to the catalog of their label, Smart, which frequently supports niche artists focused on melodic craftsmanship.
