Real-E

Released in 2017 on the Diggy Down Recordz label, Real-E serves as a notable entry in the catalog of Enois Scroggins, a musician deeply rooted in the classic funk and boogie sound of the 1980s. The album emerged as part of a contemporary revival of the boogie genre, driven by labels dedicated to preserving the analog-heavy production styles of the past. Scroggins, who gained recognition for his contributions to the West Coast funk scene, aimed to capture a nostalgic yet polished aesthetic that mirrors the dance-floor-oriented instrumentation of his earlier works.

The production behind Real-E emphasizes the classic synthesizers and rhythmic patterns synonymous with the Minneapolis and West Coast funk soundscapes. By collaborating with The Touch Funk, Scroggins sought to maintain an authentic, organic feel despite the digital format of the CD. The album was largely received by genre enthusiasts and critics as a faithful homage to the boogie era, celebrated for its technical adherence to the groove-centric arrangements that defined Scroggins' earlier career during the 1980s.
