Where it came from
Ritter Rüdiger is a musical project and character created by the Austrian folk-pop duo Bluatschink, comprised of Toni and Margit Knittel. Released in 2006 on the Knittel Ton label, this CD represents a departure from the duo's traditional Alpine folk style, focusing instead on a narrative-driven children's album centered around the adventures of a gentle knight.
The album was designed to promote themes of kindness and courage, using the character of Rüdiger to teach children how to resolve conflicts without violence. The songwriting relies on the duo's signature Lechtal dialect, which garnered regional appreciation for its authenticity and accessibility. It was received as a charming entry into the canon of Austrian children's music, eventually leading to a broader multimedia franchise including books and stage productions.
