Scarlatti・Beethoven・Brahms

Released in 1997 by the independent label Cembal D'Amour, this collection features the pianist Mordecai Shehori performing a varied program of works by Domenico Scarlatti, Ludwig van Beethoven, and Johannes Brahms. The album emerged from Shehori's focused effort to highlight his interpretive range across vastly different eras of piano literature, capturing his signature style which often emphasizes clarity of phrasing and structural integrity.

The disc serves as an example of independent classical production during the late 1990s, where specialized labels sought to provide a platform for artists to curate personal, eclectic programs outside the constraints of major label repertoire requirements. The design reflects the straightforward, artist-centric aesthetic favored by Cembal D'Amour, prioritizing the listener's engagement with the nuances of the performance rather than commercial packaging.
