Where it came from
Released in 2007 on the independent label Cembal d'Amour, this collection documents live performances by the Israeli-American pianist Mordecai Shehori. The label, founded by Shehori himself, was established specifically to preserve his concert repertoire and interpretations of the classical canon, often focusing on works that showcase technical virtuosity and refined tonal control.
The recording captures Shehori's engagement with live audiences in New York, a setting that has defined much of his mid-to-late career. The design and production reflect the label's aesthetic of minimal, scholarly presentation, prioritizing the integrity of the live audio capture over promotional embellishment. It was received by classical music enthusiasts as a dedicated archival project, serving as a testament to Shehori's long-standing residency and reputation within the city's chamber music scene.
