Where it came from
Released in 2004 by the Spanish label Tritó, this collection serves as a significant retrospective of the symphonic work of Jesús Rueda, one of Spain’s most prominent contemporary composers. The album compiles various orchestral pieces performed by esteemed ensembles such as the Joven Orquesta Nacional de España and the Orquesta Sinfónica de RTVE, under the baton of conductors including Ernest Martínez Izquierdo and Carlos Domínguez-Nieto.
The curation of these symphonies reflects Rueda's complex, post-tonal musical language, which often draws from a fusion of structural rigor and textural experimentation. Tritó, a label dedicated to the promotion of contemporary Spanish classical music, sought to provide a definitive high-quality record of Rueda's development during a pivotal period of his career. The release was met with appreciation from the contemporary music community for its commitment to documenting modern Iberian symphonic literature.
