Where it came from
Steel Holes Tour 01 Live At Gig-Antic was released in 2002 by Holes Record, capturing the raw, energetic atmosphere of the band's touring circuit during the early 2000s. The recording emerged from the independent noise-rock scene, documenting a period where the band sought to translate the chaotic intimacy of their live shows into a formal audio format for their growing underground following.
The disc serves as a snapshot of the experimental aesthetic prevalent in that era of independent music, focusing on lo-fi production values that prioritized the band's abrasive instrumental interplay over studio polish. While specific design credits for the packaging remain obscure, the visual language of the release reflects the minimalist, DIY design ethos typical of the Holes Record catalog, which aimed to emphasize the music's confrontational nature.
