Where it came from
Sticks & Stones represents an early, self-released effort by Steffen Linck, the German multi-instrumentalist and producer better known globally by his stage name, Monolink. Released in 2013 before his transition into the globally recognized electronic-folk hybrid sound that defined his later career, the album serves as a snapshot of his formative artistic period. The collection reflects a raw, singer-songwriter aesthetic that predates his heavy integration of modular synthesizers and club-oriented beats.
The album was produced independently, bypassing major record labels to retain creative autonomy. As an early artifact in Linck's discography, it was designed with a stripped-back, acoustic-leaning focus, emphasizing lyrical storytelling and intimate composition. While it did not receive widespread commercial distribution at the time of its release, it has since become a sought-after rarity among dedicated fans who track the evolution of his sophisticated, atmospheric soundscapes.
