Strings (Thomastik-Infeld Presents: Musik Von Der Besten Saite)

Strings (Thomastik-Infeld Presents: Musik Von Der Besten Saite) was released in the late 1970s as a specialized promotional project by the Austrian string manufacturer Thomastik-Infeld. The record was intended to showcase the company's guitar strings through the virtuosic performances of Karl Ratzer, a prominent figure in the Austrian jazz and fusion scene. By collaborating with such a respected musician, Thomastik-Infeld aimed to demonstrate the sonic versatility and quality of their products within a high-fidelity studio environment.

The album serves as a distinctive artifact of brand-sponsored music production, where the intent was to bridge technical craft with artistic expression. Karl Ratzer, known for his fluid phrasing and ability to traverse blues, jazz, and rock influences, provided a showcase that prioritized clean, articulate tone. Released on the small Kiss Records label, the project remains a niche interest for enthusiasts of European jazz-fusion and audiophile curiosities, reflecting a period when musical manufacturers frequently invested in high-quality promotional pressings to cement their reputation among professional musicians.
