Where it came from
Sunrise, Sunset was released in 2006 under the RJ Productions label, serving as a nostalgic musical collection featuring vocalists Eleanor Shimmin and Mavis Kelly. The project was conceived as a commemorative project, drawing from a repertoire of classic standards and sentimental ballads designed to evoke a sense of reflection and comfort for its listeners.
The album's aesthetic and thematic focus lean into the tradition of 'memory music,' a genre often characterized by its gentle arrangements and familiar melodies. While not a commercial mainstream release, the production reflects the efforts of independent labels to preserve and present vocal performances for audiences who appreciate traditional songbooks and personal, understated musical accompaniments.
