Where it came from
The Jolly Time Revue EP was self-released by the independent artist Coda Krome in 2008. Operating outside of major label structures, Coda Krome utilized this release to distribute music directly to listeners, capturing the mid-2000s trend of independent musicians leveraging CD-R technology and small-batch manufacturing to establish a foothold in the alternative music scene.
The design of the EP reflects the lo-fi aesthetic common among independent releases of the era, emphasizing a raw, personal connection between the artist and the audience. As an early digital-age physical release, it serves as a snapshot of the artist's foundational sound, characterized by an experimental approach to production that favored intimate composition over polished studio standardizations.
