The Sacred Path - A Voyage To Santiago De Compostela

Released in 2009 on the Blubber Lips label, The Sacred Path is a meditative ambient project by German composers Bernd Scholl and Rüdiger Gleisberg. The album was conceived as a sonic exploration of the Camino de Santiago, the historic pilgrimage route leading to the cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The artists sought to capture the atmosphere of the journey through a blend of atmospheric synthesizers and acoustic textures, aiming to evoke the introspection and spiritual landscape associated with the traditional walk.

The album reflects the established style of the duo, who are known for their contributions to the New Age and electronic ambient genres. Rüdiger Gleisberg, a prolific musician with a background in classical and electronic music, combined his sensibilities with Scholl’s production to create a soundscape that functions as both a travelogue and a tool for relaxation. Upon its release, it was well-received within ambient circles for its consistent tonal quality and its ability to sustain a thematic narrative across the duration of the recording.
