This Is Eleanore Mills

This Is Eleanore Mills serves as a long-overdue anthology of the elusive soul singer Eleanore Mills, whose recorded output was primarily confined to the mid-1970s. Released by Soul Brother Records in 2016, the compilation gathers her rare singles and unreleased studio material, providing a definitive look at her contributions to the deep soul and rhythm and blues landscape. Many of the tracks originated from sessions led by producer Leo Graham, who was instrumental in shaping the sound of Chicago soul during that era.

The design and curation of the collection reflect a dedication to preserving the legacy of soul artists who operated on the fringes of commercial success. Soul Brother Records aimed to restore the visibility of Mills' evocative vocal performances, which had previously only existed on obscure 45s or in the collections of dedicated crate-diggers. The compilation was received with warm appreciation by soul aficionados and music critics, who highlighted the clarity of the transfers and the biographical context provided, finally giving Mills' catalog the cohesive presentation it lacked during her original tenure as an artist.
