Provenance

Where it came from

The Thomas Jensen Legacy series is an ongoing archival project released by the Danish label Danacord, dedicated to preserving the recorded output of the esteemed Danish conductor Thomas Jensen. Jensen, who served as the principal conductor of the Danish National Symphony Orchestra for many years, was a pivotal figure in the promotion of Scandinavian classical music during the mid-20th century. Volume 9 was released in 2022 as part of this comprehensive initiative to digitize and remaster vintage radio recordings and rare discs that capture the breadth of his repertoire.

The design of the series adheres to a clean, scholarly aesthetic intended to provide listeners with a reliable and authoritative historical document. The production team behind the series works to restore the audio quality of these mid-century sessions, aiming to balance the fidelity of modern digital standards with the specific acoustic character of the original broadcast tapes. The series has been received warmly by classical music historians and collectors as a vital resource for understanding the interpretative traditions of the Danish conducting school.
