Van Katoen Special

Van Katoen was a notable Dutch alternative rock band that emerged from the regional music scene in the early 2000s, gaining attention for their energetic performances and blend of punk and rock influences. The Van Katoen Special EP was released in 2002 under the Conamus initiative, a foundation established to promote Dutch music exports and support emerging talent. This release served as a promotional vehicle designed to showcase the band's potential to a wider industry audience, capturing the raw, guitar-driven sound that defined their early career.

The design of the EP reflects the aesthetic sensibilities of the Dutch indie rock scene during that period, focusing on a minimalist, functional approach intended to highlight the music rather than elaborate packaging. As a promotional product curated with the support of Conamus, the item was primarily distributed to radio stations, venues, and industry professionals. While the band maintained a loyal local following, the release is viewed today as a snapshot of the Dutch independent music infrastructure at the turn of the millennium.
