Where it came from
Vanaf Vandaag was released in 2004 as a testament to the enduring career of Rob de Nijs, one of the most prominent figures in Dutch popular music. By this point in his career, de Nijs had already transitioned from his sixties pop beginnings into a respected singer-songwriter and cabaret-style performer, and this album served to solidify his status as a veteran pillar of the industry.
The album reflects a polished, contemporary production style typical of de Nijs's later recordings, blending sentimental balladry with orchestrated pop arrangements. It was received as a comfortable, reliable entry in his extensive discography, satisfying his loyal fanbase while maintaining the introspective and often melancholic lyrical themes that have defined his work since the mid-1970s.
