Where it came from
Released in 2009 under the Sound Junction label, Vantaa-New York serves as a project by the Finnish vocal ensemble Lauluyhtye Saundi. The album reflects the group's interest in blending traditional vocal harmonies with contemporary arrangements, drawing its title from the geographical span between the Finnish city of Vantaa and the musical influence of New York City.
The production sought to highlight the versatility of the ensemble, utilizing a repertoire that bridges choral precision with popular music styles. While the album remains a niche entry within the broader landscape of Finnish vocal music, it is regarded by listeners of the genre as a sincere exploration of vocal synthesis and cross-cultural musical inspiration.
