Where it came from
Released in 2019 by Aquarius Records, Večer S Cohenom is a collaborative live project by Croatian singer-songwriter Maja Posavec and guitarist Ivan Kapec. The album emerged from a series of intimate concert performances dedicated to the music of Leonard Cohen. Designed to capture the spontaneity and stripped-back essence of their live shows, the recording serves as a localized tribute to Cohen's poetic legacy within the contemporary Croatian music scene.
The album's minimalist aesthetic reflects its focus on the raw synergy between Posavec’s vocal delivery and Kapec’s nuanced guitar arrangements. By choosing to interpret Cohen’s complex songbook, the duo aimed to distill the melancholic and meditative qualities of the original compositions. Upon its release, the album was received as a respectful and atmospheric exploration of Cohen’s canon, appreciated by listeners for its ability to maintain the intimacy of a small-venue performance through a recorded medium.
