Voices In Harmony (The Paul Van Dyk Remixes)

Released in 1995 on the MFS label, Voices in Harmony represents a significant moment in the intersection of trance and house music during the mid-nineties. The project paired the production sensibilities of Joe T. Vannelli with the vocals of Csilla, aiming to bridge the gap between the melodic, atmospheric trance emerging from Berlin and the high-energy house scenes favored in European clubs. This specific release focuses on the remixes provided by Paul van Dyk, whose involvement underscored his growing status as a pivotal figure in defining the Berlin trance sound.

Paul van Dyk’s contribution to this record is characterized by his signature layering of arpeggiated synths and driving, rhythmic basslines. His remix work during this period was highly influential, often softening the harder industrial edges of the label's earlier output to create something more anthemic and radio-friendly. The reception of these remixes helped solidify Van Dyk's reputation as a top-tier producer, as his approach became a blueprint for the progressive trance sound that dominated the dance music charts for the remainder of the decade.
