Where it came from
Released in 2009 by HAFABRA Music, Vol. 29: El Volador serves as a showcase for the Polizeimusikkorps Baden-Württemberg under the direction of conductor Toni Scholl. This recording was produced to highlight the technical versatility and symphonic capabilities of a professional police wind ensemble, exploring a diverse repertoire that bridges traditional brass band arrangements with modern concert band compositions.
The album features collaborative contributions from musician Julia Schlag and trumpeter Rüdiger Baldauf, who bring contemporary jazz and soloistic flair to the project. The production sought to demonstrate the high performance standards of the German police music tradition, presenting a collection of pieces designed for both concert hall settings and technical assessment, and was received by the band music community as a polished example of modern wind ensemble recording.
