Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Violin Conertos Nos.3,4,5

Recorded in 1967, this collection captures the collaboration between the Berliner Philharmoniker and violinist-conductor Wolfgang Schneiderhan. These concertos were composed by Mozart in 1775 during a highly prolific period in Salzburg, reflecting the transition from early galant styles to the more sophisticated musical language that would define his later orchestral works.

Schneiderhan, a prominent Austrian violinist known for his classical restraint and technical precision, served as both soloist and conductor for these sessions. Deutsche Grammophon issued these recordings as a hallmark of their mid-century catalog, aiming to showcase a balanced, scholarly approach to Mozart that avoided the romantic excesses often applied to these concertos in earlier decades. The resulting interpretation remains well-regarded by critics for its clarity and structural integrity.
