10 Cents - Elizabeth II (4th Portrait - Koala - Silver Bullion Coinage)

The 2013 Australian 10-cent koala bullion coin is part of the long-running Australian Silver Koala series produced by the Perth Mint. First introduced in 2007, this series was designed to provide international investors and collectors with a high-purity silver option featuring a rotating annual design of Australia’s most iconic marsupial. The 2013 edition features the work of Perth Mint designer Ing Ing Jong, who captured a koala perched on a tree branch, emphasizing the animal's natural habitat through fine relief work and a polished, proof-like finish.

The obverse of the coin displays Ian Rank-Broadley’s mature effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, a design used across the Commonwealth since 1998 to signify Australia's status as a constitutional monarchy. As a sovereign investment coin guaranteed by the Australian government, the 10-cent denomination serves as legal tender, though its value is derived primarily from its silver content and numismatic appeal. The series has been consistently well-received for its artistic dedication to wildlife themes and the Mint’s reputation for technical precision in minting silver bullion.
