10 Cents - Elizabeth II (4th Portrait - Koala - Silver Bullion Coinage)

The 2015 Australian 10-cent koala bullion issue is part of a broader program by the Perth Mint, which has long utilized the iconic imagery of Australia's unique wildlife to appeal to both bullion investors and thematic collectors. This specific piece features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley on the obverse, which was the standard portrait used on Australian coinage from 1999 until its transition to the Jody Clark design. By incorporating high-purity silver into standard circulating denominations, the mint created a bridge between legal tender aesthetics and the precious metals market.

The design of the koala on the reverse continues the tradition of Australian wildlife artistry that has defined the nation's contemporary numismatic output. These coins were produced to serve as a collectible bullion product rather than for circulation, emphasizing the high-relief detail and finish that the Perth Mint is known for globally. It stands as a representative example of how national symbols are repurposed to cater to the growing international demand for sovereign-backed silver collectibles.
