Where it came from
The 1969 10 Qindarka coin was issued by the People's Republic of Albania to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the country's liberation from Nazi occupation in 1944. Following the post-war consolidation of the Socialist state under Enver Hoxha, coinage of this era served as a primary medium for state propaganda, reflecting themes of national sovereignty, military resistance, and revolutionary progress.
The design of this commemorative series reflects the austere aesthetic typical of the Albanian state mints during the late 1960s. The obverse features the state emblem—a double-headed eagle flanked by wheat stalks and a five-pointed star—while the reverse focuses on motifs honoring the partisan struggle. These coins were minted in aluminum-bronze, a utilitarian choice for a country largely isolated from international markets at the time, and were distributed widely into circulation to reinforce the narrative of the 'liberation' anniversary among the populace.
