2 Dollars - Charles III (Dark Magician Girl)

Issued in 2022 by the Pacific island nation of Niue, this two-dollar coin is part of a series of legal tender collectibles produced by the New Zealand Mint that celebrate iconic characters from the Yu-Gi-Oh! trading card game and anime franchise. The coin was minted to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the property, utilizing Niue’s status as a territory that frequently commissions commemorative bullion and proof coins featuring licensed pop culture intellectual property for the international collector market.

The coin features a colored relief of the Dark Magician Girl, one of the most recognizable figures from the series, designed to replicate the aesthetic of the original Kazuki Takahashi illustrations. As with many coins in the New Zealand Mint's pop culture line, the design prioritizes visual fidelity to the source material over traditional numismatic motifs, resulting in a piece that functions more as a character-focused collectible than as currency for everyday circulation.
