Where it came from
The 2020 8 Dollars 'Bull' coin is part of the Canadian Wildlife series issued by the Royal Canadian Mint. This specific denomination is struck in 1.5 ounces of .9999 fine silver, a weight chosen by the Mint to offer a unique mid-range option between the standard one-ounce and two-ounce bullion pieces. The coin was produced as a legal tender investment-grade product, reflecting Canada's ongoing commitment to high-purity precious metal production for global collectors and investors.
The reverse design features a powerful, stoic portrait of a bison—often referred to as a bull in the context of the North American plains—rendered with intricate detail to highlight the texture of the animal's coat and its imposing stature. The obverse displays the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Susanna Blunt, which has been a staple of Canadian coinage since 2003. Upon its release, the series was well-received by the numismatic community for its combination of high-purity silver content and detailed wildlife artistry, maintaining the Royal Canadian Mint's reputation for precision engraving.
