2000 AD #2493

2000 AD is a foundational British weekly science fiction anthology comic that first launched in 1977. Issue 2493, released in the summer of 2024, continues the publication's long-standing tradition of blending satirical social commentary with gritty, high-concept speculative fiction. As part of a series that has nurtured generations of influential creators, this issue maintains the editorial mandate established by Tharg the Mighty, focusing on sharp storytelling and distinctive, often provocative, artistic styles.

The design and visual direction of this specific issue align with the modern iteration of the 2000 AD aesthetic, which balances classic fan-favorite strips with experimental layouts. By continuing to feature iconic characters like Judge Dredd alongside new, serialized narratives, the publication remains a vital platform for British comic creators. It is regarded by critics as a successful continuation of the anthology's survival strategy, emphasizing high-quality production values and an uncompromising creative vision that has sustained the comic through nearly five decades of industry change.
