Action Comics Weekly #635

Action Comics Weekly #635 was published in early 1989 as part of a short-lived experimental era for DC Comics. During this period, the flagship title shifted from a traditional monthly Superman comic to an anthology format, attempting to revitalize the medium by featuring rotating serials starring characters like Green Lantern, Black Canary, and Deadman alongside the Man of Steel. This issue serves as a mid-point entry in that bold, albeit commercially challenging, transition period.

The issue features artwork and creative contributions consistent with the house style of late 1980s DC, emphasizing the grit and serialized narrative tension characteristic of the era. The anthology format was designed to offer readers a diverse experience each week, though it struggled to maintain the consistent fan base required for long-term viability. Today, the issue is primarily sought after by completist collectors documenting the brief, historically significant departure from the standard Superman publication model.
