Adventure Comics #485

Adventure Comics #485, published in 1981, serves as a significant chapter in the title's lengthy history at DC Comics. By the late 1970s and early 1980s, the series had evolved into a showcase for shorter, anthology-style features, a departure from its origins as the long-time home of Superboy. This specific issue is particularly notable for featuring the 'Dial H for Hero' segment, a fan-favorite property revived by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Carmine Infantino.

The design and artistic direction of this era leaned into the dynamic, high-energy aesthetic prevalent in Bronze Age comic books. Carmine Infantino, a legendary figure in the industry, brought his signature clean lines and crisp layout sensibilities to the 'Dial H for Hero' feature. The narrative was received as a creative attempt to modernize the surreal, shape-shifting premise of the strip, effectively blending superhero tropes with a sense of playful, imaginative exploration that defined the anthology format of the period.
