Adventure Comics #482

Adventure Comics #482, published in July 1981, represents a significant moment in the DC Comics 'DC Comics Presents' era, featuring a pivotal 'Dial H for Hero' story. Created by writer E. Nelson Bridwell and artist Carmine Infantino, the issue continued the experimental narrative tradition of the series, which had transitioned from a long-running anthology format into a showcase for shorter, character-driven features. The 'Dial H' segment, written by Marv Wolfman and drawn by Carmine Infantino, was noted for its inventive character designs that pushed the visual boundaries of the superhero genre at the time.

The reception of this issue is largely tied to the cult following of the 'Dial H for Hero' revival, which leaned into the surreal and imaginative aspects of superhero tropes. Infantino, a legendary figure in the Silver Age of comics, brought a clean, kinetic aesthetic to the pages that balanced the lighthearted premise of the dials with the high-stakes world-building expected of DC titles. Collectors often seek out this issue as a representative example of the Bronze Age's willingness to revitalize older properties with a modern, design-forward sensibility.
