Adventures of Superman #446

Adventures of Superman #446 was published in November 1988 as part of the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths era of DC Comics. Written by Roger Stern with cover art by Jerry Ordway, the issue was released during a period when the Superman titles were being carefully coordinated to establish a cohesive new mythology for the character. This specific story explores the aftermath of Superman's departure from Earth, focusing on the character's internal struggle and the evolving roles of his supporting cast, including Lex Luthor and Professor Hamilton.

The design and artistic direction of this issue reflect the traditional house style of late-1980s DC, prioritizing clear narrative pacing and character-driven dialogue. Roger Stern is widely regarded for his foundational work in this era, which aimed to make Superman more grounded and human by emphasizing his interactions with Metropolis. The issue was received as a solid chapter in the broader 'Exile' storyline, a narrative arc that allowed writers to strip away the character's traditional surroundings to redefine his connection to his heritage and his adopted home.
