All-Star Squadron #14

All-Star Squadron #14, published in October 1982, serves as a pivotal installment in Roy Thomas's meticulously crafted historical expansion of the DC Universe. The series was designed to chronicle the adventures of Earth-Two's heroes during the Second World War, filling in the gaps of Golden Age continuity with a sense of period-accurate reverence. This specific issue is notable for its exploration of the complex legacy of the Justice Society of America and its place within the broader timeline of DC's multiversal narrative structure.

The interior art for this period was primarily handled by Adrian Gonzales, whose work sought to bridge the gap between the stylized sensibilities of 1940s pulp illustrations and the more refined, detail-oriented expectations of 1980s comic readers. Roy Thomas intended for the book to function as a love letter to the early days of superhero comics, and the issue was generally well-received by fans who appreciated the density of lore and the respectful treatment of vintage characters during a decade defined by radical shifts in comic book storytelling.
