Where it came from
Avalon #2 was published in 1994 as part of a limited comic book series created by writer and artist Kelita P. S. The series emerged during the mid-nineties independent comics boom, a period characterized by creators seeking to move beyond traditional superhero tropes by exploring fantasy, mythology, and intricate world-building.
The visual direction of the series was defined by a distinct, painterly aesthetic that aimed to evoke a sense of high-fantasy atmosphere rather than the kinetic action styles common to the era. While the series maintains a niche following among collectors of independent nineties fantasy, it remains a smaller-press work that reflects the earnest, experimental spirit of the alternative comic scene of the time.
