Avengers: Forever #1

Avengers: Forever #1, published in December 1998, was the debut of a prestigious twelve-issue limited series written by Kurt Busiek and Roger Stern, with art by Carlos Pacheco. The series was designed as a sprawling, complex love letter to the history of the Avengers, intended to reconcile decades of disparate continuity and contradictory storylines. It centered on a disparate group of heroes plucked from various points in the team's timeline to battle the time-traveling villain Immortus, effectively serving as an epic retrospective on the Marvel Universe.

The creative team utilized the series to weave together fragmented elements of Avengers lore into a cohesive narrative. Carlos Pacheco’s artwork was highly regarded for its attention to detail and ability to depict the shifting costumes and eras of the characters accurately. Upon its release, the series was received with significant critical acclaim, frequently cited by readers and historians alike as a definitive masterclass in how to honor a long-running comic book franchise while simultaneously pushing its narrative boundaries forward.
