Avengers Icons: The Vision #1

Released in 2002 as part of Marvel Comics' Avengers Icons miniseries, this issue serves as a focused character study on The Vision. Written by Geoff Johns with artwork by Ivan Reis, the four-issue limited series was created to explore the synthozoid's humanity and his complicated emotional existence following his tenure with the Avengers. The narrative sought to bridge the gap between his programmed nature and his desire for genuine personal connection, positioning him as a more introspective and standalone protagonist.

The aesthetic direction by Ivan Reis focuses on a sleek, modern visual representation of the character that emphasizes his robotic physiology while maintaining a sense of expressive melancholy. The series was generally well-received by fans of the era for its mature tone and its successful attempt to ground a high-concept sci-fi character in relatable, character-driven drama. It remains a notable entry in the character's publication history for its deliberate departure from large-scale team battles in favor of a personal, psychological exploration.
