Avengers Unplugged #1

Avengers Unplugged #1 was published by Marvel Comics in 1995 during a period when the publisher was experimenting with anthology-style storytelling and non-canonical side projects. The series was designed to showcase individual members of the Avengers team in stories that were largely disconnected from the main monthly title, allowing creators to explore character-driven narratives without the constraints of the primary continuity.

The debut issue was written by Glenn Herdling and illustrated by M.C. Wyman. It focuses on a mission involving the Black Widow and Hawkeye, leaning into the high-action aesthetic typical of the mid-1990s comic book industry. The series was received as a moderate novelty at the time, functioning as a platform for artists and writers to experiment with the roster, though it remained a secondary title compared to the core Avengers series.
