Avengers Unplugged #4

Avengers Unplugged #4, published in March 1996, arrived during a transitional period for Marvel Comics as the publisher sought to experiment with peripheral titles that explored the lives of its primary superhero team outside of their traditional high-stakes battles. The series was designed to showcase a more relaxed, character-focused side of the Avengers, providing a platform for standalone stories that did not necessarily demand deep continuity knowledge from the reader.

This specific issue features a story written by Glenn Herdling, with artwork provided by M.C. Wyman and Bud LaRosa. The creative team aimed to maintain a classic superhero aesthetic while leaning into the anthology-style format of the series. While the title did not achieve the longevity of the core Avengers comics, it remains a notable example of the mid-90s effort to diversify the portfolio of established franchises through shorter, character-driven narratives.
