Bruno Brazil #11

Bruno Brazil #11 is a key installment in the long-running Belgian-French comics series created by writer Greg (Michel Regnier) and artist William Vance. Debuting in the late 1960s, the series was characterized by its departure from traditional Franco-Belgian adventure tropes, moving instead toward the gritty, high-stakes aesthetic of the American spy-thriller genre. The series followed the elite Commando Caïman, an international special operations unit, reflecting the shifting pop-culture landscape of the era where serialized espionage narratives dominated television and film.

William Vance’s design for the series utilized a cinematic, realistic illustration style that set a high standard for detail in bande dessinée. By the time of the eleventh issue, the series had firmly established its tone of political intrigue and tactical complexity. Vance was noted for his technical precision and use of shadow to convey tension, which helped the series garner a dedicated following among readers who appreciated a more sophisticated, mature approach to comic book action.
