Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden: Ayatsuji Yukito vs. Kyōgoku Natsuhiko #1

Bungo Stray Dogs Gaiden: Ayatsuji Yukito vs. Kyōgoku Natsuhiko serves as a spin-off to the primary Bungo Stray Dogs franchise, centered on the characters Ayatsuji Yukito and Kyōgoku Natsuhiko, who are based on real-life Japanese mystery novelists. The series was created to expand the narrative universe, focusing on a battle of wits between the detective and the antagonist that leans heavily into the dark, supernatural tropes established in Kafka Asagiri’s original work.

The illustrations for the manga were handled by Oyukidō, who adopted a visual style consistent with the aesthetic of the mainline series while emphasizing the unique noir-inspired atmosphere of the Gaiden storyline. Since its initial serialization, the volume has been well-regarded by readers of the franchise for its faithful characterization of the real-world authors it honors and its contribution to the established lore of the Bungo Stray Dogs world.
