Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai, Chūya, Jūgo-Sai #4

Bungo Stray Dogs: Dazai, Chūya, Jūgo-Sai, or Fifteen, is a manga adaptation of the light novel written by Kafka Asagiri and illustrated by Sango Harukawa. This particular narrative arc serves as a prequel to the main Bungo Stray Dogs series, focusing on the volatile initial meeting between Osamu Dazai and Chūya Nakahara. Serialized in Monthly Shōnen Ace, the series was produced to deepen the lore surrounding the Port Mafia and to explore the formative years of these fan-favorite characters.

The art style maintained by Shiro Usui, who handles the adaptation, closely mirrors the established aesthetic of the franchise while emphasizing the youthful, sharper features of the protagonists. The design choices aim to convey the high-stakes, dramatic tone of the criminal underworld in Yokohama. Upon release, the series was well-received by the existing fanbase for its ability to provide canonical context to the complex dynamic between the two lead characters, effectively bridging the gap between their origins and the events of the core manga.
