Where it came from
Ce Vide au Fond de Moi is a deeply personal and introspective zine series created by the French artist and illustrator known as Simon Bailly. The project emerged from the independent underground comics scene, focusing on themes of existential melancholy, isolation, and the complexities of the human condition. The series utilizes a distinct, minimalist aesthetic, often employing raw, expressive line work to convey profound internal emotional states.
The second issue continues the thematic trajectory established in the series debut, further exploring the space between personal vulnerability and the act of artistic catharsis. Bailly designed the work to act as a meditative space for the reader, prioritizing atmosphere over traditional narrative structure. Within the independent press community, the work has been noted for its visual sincerity and its success in translating abstract, difficult feelings into a tactile and intimate printed format.
